Carolyn Parker’s passion for roses grew along with her suburban Lafayette garden. More than 300 roses form its structure and inspired careers in garden design, photography, and writing. She is the author of two books on roses: The Poetry of Roses (Abrams, 1995) and the just published R is for Rose: Reflections from a Passionate Rose Lover (Horticulture Books, 2005). Carolyn especially loves heritage roses. They are specimens that were either discovered or hybridized before the 1920’s. She will talk and demonstrate how unique their many varied forms are, how they are perfect for modern day gardens, and how especially adaptable they are in flower arranging. She will demonstrate their versatility in both small medium, and large arrangements. You can find examples of Carolyn’s flower arranging on her blog at rosenotes.com.
