An award-winning journalist and lifelong gardener, Debbie is one of Sacramento's best known gardening experts. She's the co-creator of the popular Sacramento Digs Gardening blog and website, writing about Sacramento area gardening on a daily basis.
As the Sacramento Bee's home and garden writer, she covered those subjects extensively for almost 10 years. She won the Garden Writers Association's 2018 Silver Award for best newspaper article and its 2018 Gold Award -- its top national honor -- as best newspaper garden writer. She also won the 2015 GWA Silver Award for best newspaper garden column.
A longtime member of the Sacramento Rose Society, she is a consulting rosarian and has won numerous awards for her roses.
